How many women went and how many never returned.
The names of the women; we did not try to establish them.
What exactly the March 1981 Antena article said; we know it through summaries. The 1981 issues are not digitised.
Whether the Italian proceedings against Gaviraghi ended in a conviction. No 1981 Italian press coverage could be found online.
Whether case files survive in the IPN or court archives; a search of the IPN inventory found nothing.
Whether the 6 June 1981 broadcast of "Atrakcja z tłem" survives in the TVP archive.

How this site was made

The content was compiled in September 2026 from the publicly available sources listed above. No original interviews or archival research were conducted. Where sources disagree on a number, the range is given. If you know a source that is missing here, or spot an error, write to the address in the footer.

Audit of 22 September 2026. Every claim was checked against the full text of the Kowalik [2] and Dzierżanowski [3] reports. Corrected: 33 dollars is 15 percent of the fee, not a separate deduction; the 500 dollars for a monthly flat rate went to a ZPR employee, not Cassaglia; the million dollars is the militia's estimate for the recruiters; the ear-shooting and armed guard are Antena's claims, not testimony; the strangled girl was found in Gaviraghi's venue, nationality not given; the TV report aired on 6 June, not 'days after' the March article; the years in the dedication were widened.
